Hi, I am Shammi Nanda, I coach business owners and organisations build self managed governance systems using Holacracy that helps them grow their business exponentially.
I have been a serial entrepreneur for the last 15 years, have recovered from a major business burnout, and dived deeply to develop a thriving Self-Managed Business using Holacracy as our Governance System.
I got exhausted running my business where everything fell on me leading to a major burnout which brought me close to a near death experience. I then began to integrate Teal Collaborative Practices while integrating Holacracy in my business, which helped me put the business and my life back on the rails, which is now growing with ease, inspiration and joy.
I believe that Holacracy allowed me to set up systems for breaking down the work in circles, roles and accountabilities and found a way to assign the roles in a way that we had a gentle steering of the organisation. This gave me plenty of ease and effectiveness, because I no longer had to micro-manage and could have a team that became true stakeholders and ran the business with autonomy and interdependence.
I see Holacracy as a way that is inspired by the natural systems work like a living organism which has amazing feedback loops and a process to respond dynamically to change and has the ability to repair itself like a living organism. Have deeply studied Sociocracy and Holacracy, integrated Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and conflict resolution modalities in our business.
I have also done a Holacracy yatra and travelled in the US to visit organisations that work with Holacracy and are successful businesses. I have done three holacracy training, wherein two were for practitioners and one was an advanced one.

Teal moves away from the command‑and‑control model where a few leaders carry most decision load. In traditional setups people wait for instructions and are detached from purpose; motivation often reduces to a paycheck. Teal fosters shared ownership, distributed authority and purpose alignment.
Team members surface “tensions” in structured meetings. Each tension can trigger an evolution of roles, policies or processes. This continual micro‑adjustment lets the system adapt and every member acts as a change agent.

Instead of classic managers there are circle role holders who focalize energy: allocating roles, setting or sequencing priorities and linking circles. Authority resides in explicit roles rather than in personal hierarchy.
Yes. Others can record roles and policies; facilitation plus visual aids (icons, diagrams, color coding) make governance accessible. Once people experience that they can influence structure, ownership and contribution rise. We have used this with teams including non‑literate members who understood and engaged using illustrations.
