The concept of ‘Teal’ has come from the work of Ken Wilbur and Frederic Laloux from Reinventing Organisations. Fredric studied organisations and businesses that have been self-managed and collaborative while working effectively in ways that are more soulful and nourishing for the team members and business owners/founders.
As we evolve as human beings we enjoy connection and collaboration, we have the intent to bring this consciousness more deeply in our families and with our dear ones.
A Teal Family is a conscious and evolutionary family that believes in the dignity of all in a family and holds a desire for creating a safe space for all voices to be heard, and have the tools to express themselves and listen to others so each person’s needs are seen and valued. Besides, they also have tools to have greater collaboration and equity in the families even as they share the work at home and outside as a family.
This learning and practice community will integrate learnings from Nonviolent Communication(NVC), Holacracy and give you doable skills in building families with an evolutionary and collaborative consciousness.
A weekly practice space to cultivate collaborative and empathic family relationships—where everyday life is shaped by empathy, cooperation, and conscious relating. The intention is also to build a community of care in the city of Jaipur where you have people who have skills for empathic listening and can offer emotional support and empathic listening when you are sturggling to build connection with your dear ones.
We will be meeting every Saturday from 5 pm to 7 pm, where I or other facilitators will be sharing tools and practices for learning Nonviolent Communication(NVC) and other modalities to build collaboration and connection in our families. This learning session will be followed by a potluck dinner as the act of 'breaking the bread' togeather is an amazing way to building a community.
We will be bringing in practices from Nonviolent Communication(NVC) and other modalities for collaboration like Teal Self Management Systems. Later, we will also try to bring in other modalities that help us learn and grow to our full human potential. Some of these sessions may happen on day and another time of the week.
Join these two introductory in-person workshops happening on 21st and 28th June, 2025 to have an idea about the Teal Family Learning Community
The weekly meetups will help us learn and go deeply into NVC as we offer workshops and then also create space for practicing it. The sessions will have group as well as individual activities. We can bring in issues around relationships with our partner, or children or parents and even workspace, in order to create a world where we can be autonomous and learn to express ourselves while building connection with our dear ones.
We could be working on topics ranging from honest expression, empathic listening, conflict resolution, gratitude sharing, conscious apologies, anger, guilt, shame etc and hone up our communication skills so we can learn to live authentically and connect deeply in our relationships.
Even though the primary focus will be around learning NVC and other collaborative modalities, but the sessions won't be limited to NVC training as we believe in wholistic development for our community. We will often also have sessions around food, body movement, mental health, parenting, etc besides also be having outdoor programs where we explore nature, the social and cultural heritage and richness of Jaipur.
In the long run we intend to build an intergenerational learning community where we nurture and support each other's learning as we experience diverse learning opportunities in our city.
I was born and raised in Jaipur until I moved away at 18, though I often returned to reconnect. My mother passed away when I was 16, after years of illness, emotional isolation, and overwork. She was a devoted teacher and caregiver, but lacked support—something I believe affected her health. As the youngest in a patriarchal setup, I felt powerless during those years of silence, grief, and emotional turmoil. Even after her death, conflicts continued, leaving me with deep questions and a longing for healing. Her suffering and our unresolved conflicts were never supported by a community or professional help. Later, I went through a painful divorce, which took years of reflection to transform into friendship. These personal struggles pushed me to seek a different way, leading me to Nonviolent Communication in 2008. NVC gave me clarity and tools to heal and build meaningful, collaborative relationships. Now, after 15 years of sharing this work worldwide, I’m creating a Teal Family Learning Community in Jaipur. To know more about me you can go to https://www.shamminanda.com/about
I chose to create Ahimsagram at Jaipur and Have been sharing NVC in Jaipur for about 10 years and have supported many people with their interpersonal challenges, especially in their families. As I offered 1 on 1 coaching, mediations, as well as workshops, I felt that apart from help from trained professionals offering emotional and menatal health support we also a need for a space and community for sustained learning and support that helps to nurture people of Jaipur to grow skills in building authentic and empathic relationships.
I want to offer tools and help people practice them so the skills and tools for authentic and empathic communication become part of our daily lives, in our parenting as well as intimate partnerships. In order for this, I thought of developing this weekly learning and practice space. That is when the Idea of TFLC was born. I am glad to offer this from my experience so people here are more empowered to deal with their challenges on their own or with community support.
Learn the tools to communicate effectively in ways that helps you build authentic and compassionate relationships with your partner, parents or children
Develop empathic listening skills that assure your dear ones that they are heard and understood.
Develop skills and practices to bond and connect deeply with your children, where they also feel safe to express themselves and nurture collaborative decision making.
Stop fearing conflicts at home and learn to transform them into meaningful agreements that help you all grow and evolve.
Pick up tools and practices that help you share work and bring in more collaboration in your homes.
Learn to understand your patterns and triggers and pick up tools to work with them. Also, learn to be more compassionate and understanding about the patterns of your dear ones.
As we offer you skills for empathic listening, you will get better equipped to hear your friends and community in their difficult times which gives them a non judgemental space for sharing and reflection, that can even help them find their own solutions. We will develop a system for ‘Empathy Buddies’ where you can offer and receive support for your day to day challenges, in their spirit of mutual care. You can have a group of people accessible to you as sounding board in your city, which offers you emotional support in challenging times.
Learning in a group brings our own stories, which gives us a space for sharing and also hear from others who have gone through similar or different challenges, and we together also exchange ideas and develop new ways to deal with our challenges. Trust and Safety We will endeavor to bring in deep trust and safety by making agreements that hold the two things. The facilitators will share practices that help us create safety, which supports deep learning.
When the challenge is high with our dear ones, it is not easy to practice some thing new, when it comes to communication. We will have a community which helps you do role plays which help you hone your skills for communication, one, by letting you express in different ways, during the role plays, and helps other also to learn from your role plays.

Open to All | No Prior Experience Needed
There are moments that we get stuck and feel lonely, when we are not able to find a pathway to deal with our challenges.
With my coaching for the last few years, I have found that some of these challenges come often in relationships and I have been working on certain pathways with some of my clients. There have been some positive shifts sometimes and also at times things didn't move forward or moved 'too' slowly. Either ways, it has given me the tools and processes, that can make a difference, and I want to offer some of the learnings to the people in Jaipur who struggle with some of the challenges mentioned below, then this practice group gatherings or community could be an opportunity for you to break some of the impasses that you experience in your day to day life.
Children can join if they wish to be part of this program, for children who need a caretaker, they can be at the venue when accompanied with a caretaker. They can be at the garden below or can be in a room with some art material.
We are starting the project from Ahimsagram but as the group becomes bigger we will need to explore alternate spaces in the city. Besides, some of our sessions will happen outdoor or in other spaces, then we will need to have sessions else where.
You don't need to pay for children under 6 and for children above 6 you need to pay INR 1999 per month.
NVC will be our core but since I believe in building holistic learning communities, we would be having some sessions devoted to other areas of living and learning. We will also integrate learnings of self management in running our homes.
